''When I grow up there will be a day...'' by Txikimorin ''When I grow up there will be a day...'' by Txikimorin
Just before fighting The Evil King Ganondorf, Link returns to his tree house in Kokiri Forest, where remains a drawing he did as a child, hoping that one day he would be the hero he has ended up being.
I tried to portray the final equipment of Link, to show he has beaten all the temples and is about to fight Ganondorf. I also tried to express the nostalgy he feel by digitaly emulating a colour pencil texture and that strange foggy atmosphere of the Kokiri forest that was so magical when i was a child.

Love your attention to the little details in the game.  The representation of that little drawing at the base of the tree is beautifully done!  I would often like to return to old familiar places before moving on in a game to appreciate how far the character and I have come and how much time has passed.  It seems you like to do a similar sort of thing!

I really can't wait to start with Twinrova too, but I just don't have enough time, I want to draw that one on livestream for hours like a crazy man, with zelda music etc, just can't find time for it, but when it's done, I hope it'll be the best of my collection.

Thanks! of course i'll tell you. It's been a while since i did this picture, it was in christmas 2011 or so, but i'll try to remember.
first I made custom brush to emulate the color pencil drawing in photoshop, then i did the main forms and painted it with plain colours like in a anime or so, so i had a background tone in all the materials. The rest was just drawing using the custom brush over the plain colours, without varying the size and using allways the same colours instead of using the colour picker, i mean, i had limited amount of colours like if I was using a limited amount of pencils, and that's all, i just did the lines as if it was pencil but with the tool photoshop has, like layers and that stuff.
Hope this helps you make an idea, it was the first time doing this so it's an improvised method, but it worked

This is absolutely beautiful. I actually thought this was a color pencil drawing before I read your description. This is the kind of thing I would buy, frame, and hang on my living room wall if I had a living room, money, and a picture frame. (I'm 14, so obviously I still live with my parents.) :XD:

*sigh* Almost every time I play through the game, when I return to Kokiri Forest, I pay respect to the seven years Link has lost of his childhood.

One boy never really asked to be a hero. He just did what the princess told him... They were naive, and he quickly found his life whisked right out from underneath him. Seven years passed in the blink of an eye for that boy, and he faced many dangers, eventually defeating the threat to the land. Through magic, the princess, a true friend, tried to give him back his childhood, but it was not to be. He was destined to be a hero; it did not matter how many times he went back in time. This boy was Link, the Hero of Time. One of the greatest examples of self-sacrifice that Hyrule has ever seen.

You know that feeling you're overwhelmed with, when you find such a beautiful piece that connects to your heart and something so utterly important to you? The magic that just fills your heart and brings such a smile to your face when you see the character you've always idolized as a hero brought to life so carefully and exact - from the game that means practically everything to you. When the artist pays such attention to every detail that you remember so vividly from playing the game hundreds upon hundreds upon hundreds of times into a masterpeice that just makes you jump from your seat?

That is what I feel when I look at this. Absolutely astounding. I can't help but be excited, to see OoT artwork - it has become so rare with all these new games coming out and the fact they've changed and continue to change Link breaks my heart. It's things like this, that let me know it's okay to love OoT as much as I do and not want to play the newer games.

One of the most well-deserved DD's I've seen, to date.

Oh my goodness, I cannot even begin to express how much this picture hits me right in the feels.

THe first thing I noticed was your lovely texturing--made me think of Van Gogh or something! :D The color pencil look just really brings everything to vivid, vivid life. And your rendition of the foggy atmosphere really comes through. :) I loved that haze it had in the game. :aww:

Link looks just wonderful; his expression is perfect. Like everything else, he's just got this wonderful depth with all the colors and highlights and shades you've given him. And I love the dozens of little fairies forming chains in the air or floating here and there. And Navi of course. :aww: I think it's kind of cute to have her hovering there as he brushes his hand over the little fairy he drew so long ago.... probably back when he was just wishing he had a fairy companion of his own.

This picture is just amazing--so much emotion, such great feelings.... just beautiful. Thank you for posting this.
